Organized Play
Tuesday League – Art Miller (802-0396) & Bert Wall (802-2378), Directors

The Tuesday Men's League is alive and functioning very well. Our six teams have 4 weeks of play under their belts and, though it's early, it may be developing into a tight race to the finish. Carlos Buckelew's team is presently holding on to a nine-point lead over Dick Haynes' team, with Ron Petersen's team three points back in 3rd place.  The remaining 3 teams are back in the pack, but can make a move upward in the next few weeks. With some good weather luck, we'll finish the 10 week schedule on April 13th with a clear winner.

Thursday League - Lou Galiano, Director    895-6093

After one rain-out and three weeks of play the standings are as follows: Jesse Stewarts Scatterbrains leads the league with 113 points. Jim Dittmann and his Demented Devils are right behind them with 109 points. Jack Peterson's Pied Pipers are in third place with 95 points. Rounding out the league are three teams fighting hard for last place and the Jack Szatkowski Memorial Last Place Trophy. Bob Walk's Bobble Heads have 87 points and Szatkowski Polish Bunnies are tied with Bill Gosiak's Go-Go-Girls (oops Guys) with 85 points. This is going to be one hell of a fight for that beloved trophy. See you on the courts!

Monday League – Pat Davidson, Director    883-9716

The league is really going great.    We have three teams that are so close it could go in any direction and since we only have four weeks left a lot can happen.  Everyone is having a great time because it is so competitive and evenly matched.    Good luck to everybody !!!!!

Wednesday League – Donna Nelson, Director     802-7330

The Wednesday Spring Tennis League has just completed ½ of its season.  Weather has not been kind to us this season but we have managed to get all of the matches in one way or another.  There is very little difference in the number of points accumulated for the 5 teams so far so the teams seem to be fairly evenly matched.  We are looking forward to 5 more weeks of play.  We will end the season on March 24th and enjoy an end-of-season party on March 31st.

Mixed Doubles Organized – Gerry Picker, Coordinator    802-6732

Friday's mixed doubles continues to be going strong, as all five courts are being played on at the 8:00 am and 10:30 am time slots, plus alternates waiting to fill in, if needed.  This couldn't happen without the good work of all of my schedulers, who I personally want to thank.  Thank you Kathy Sundsrud, Judy Crane, Dee Rasmussen, Nancy Riggs, Bob Baker, Kaipo Simonelli, Maurice Allen, Carol McCulley, Jane Atkins, Dan Rosler, and Bernie Tighe.  I hope that most of them will be able to continue their good scheduling, again, next tennis season, and for those that will not be able to because of other commitments, hopefully, some others will be willing to step in and take their place.

Mens Organized - Bob Walk, Coordinator    940-6009

I know there are a lot of male tennis players out there that wants to volunteer to be a coordinator for the Tuesday or Thursday organized play. I am sorry to inform you that you will have to wait until next year, because each month for our next season starting in April, have been filled by those that want to keep our tennis club running with great precision. Many of the volunteers are repeats from last season and without hesitation said yes when asked if they would like to do it again. Thanks to all of you.

I would also like to give a special thanks to our Canadian friend (Dan Rosler) for all the help he provides for the tennis club. Not only does he volunteer to coordinate the Tuesday, Thursday and Friday groups, he and his wife Carol, bake cookies and cakes for our special events. Dan also produces new forms needed for our men's organized play. These forms not only make easier for our monthly coordinators, they look so much neater, especially when we have our leagues playing at 10:00 and 11:30 each week. Next time you see Dan, thank him for all the time he gives to our tennis club.

All of our courts are being utilized during the 8:30 time frame. Now that the cold mornings are getting a little warmer, please feel free to get a group together and use any court available at 7:00. WE can only play 20 players at 8:30 and there are always more than 20 that sign up to play.

CTC Apparel………Bob Walk  940-6009

The last two social events we had at our tennis courts (Oakwood and Leisure World) brought great disappointment when I noticed many of our CTC players do not want to wear the club apparel that is available to them. This includes a lot of our top rated players that get the greatest exposure from the crowded sidelines.

I have had many players tell me that they feel better and usually play better when they are wearing one of our club shirts, hat or visor and even when they use our club towel to wipe away their sweat or tears. These items are available to our club members any you may also use our easy payment plan if needed.

FACT: The club officers decided two years ago to sell our club apparel to our members for the same price we pay to our clothing provider.

AT COST, NO PROFIT !!!
